Pegasus Opera II

Windows 2000 Server/Professional and Opera II 6.60.00

We would like to bring to your attention an issue when upgrading client installations of Opera II to Opera II 6.60.00 on a Windows 2000 Server/Professional environment.

The issue is that the Opera II 6.60.00 client installation is not completing successfully as .OCX and .DLL registry files are not being registered at the end of the client installation. This generates multiple 1904 error messages and also prevents the Opera II client VFP registry settings being overwritten to reflect the new client installation of Opera II 6.60.00.

The issue will only occur if Opera II 6.10.00 had previously been installed. It will not occur for any installations of Opera II that are using Opera II 6.11.00 onwards.

Please find below our recommendations to resolve this issue.

For customer sites that have not yet been upgraded to Opera II 6.60.00 please follow the steps below to successfully upgrade:

  1. Uninstall existing Opera II Client installations
  2. Upgrade the Opera II Server installation to Opera II 6.60.00
  3. Run new Client installations of Opera II 6.60.00 as required

If you have already attempted an upgrade and have experienced multiple 1904 errors, then we advise that the following steps are taken in order to complete the Opera II 6.60.00 client installations:

  1. Reboot the Windows 2000 machine to ensure all msiexec processes are terminated in the Task Manager
  2. Start - Run - Type CMD - Enter
  3. Type c: and press Enter
  4. Type cd\Program Files\Pegasus\Server VFP\Client Setup\exe (or where your client setup.exe is held on the server) and press Enter
  5. Type Msiexec /fvomus "Pegasus opera ii client.msi" and press Enter
  6. Try and login to Opera II - you may receive a message 'cannot find multiple installation registry'. If this message is displayed then delete the multiple.txt file located in C:\Program Files\Pegasus\Client VFP
  7. Login to Opera II and check that a PDF can be generated (If a PDF cannot be generated the GDIPlus may need to be installed on the machine)

Some machines may only experience the message which cannot find a multiple installation on login, in this case please follow just steps 5 and 6 above.
