Landed Costs for Pegasus Opera 3 Supply Chain Management
New functionality has been added to Supply Chain Management to
improve the costing and accountability when purchasing stock, particularly
from overseas suppliers. Landed Costs are the additional costs incurred
in getting goods you purchase from your supplier to your premises.
The total cost of a landed shipment includes the purchase price
of the goods, but can also include freight costs, insurance, warehousing
and other costs. In some instances, it may include customs duties
and other taxes that may be levied on a shipment. Watch this short
demonstration by Pegasus’ Steve Power to see exactly how it works!

Within Opera 3 Stock Control it is possible to define any number of Landed Cost Types that can then be assigned to stock records that are subject to Landed Costs. These Landed Cost Types allow you to define those additional costs that may be incurred when buying items from your suppliers. When a Purchase Order is raised and stock is received then it is possible to review and adjust these Landed Costs values to represent those that are relevant to this particular transaction. Both its purchase price and the Landed Costs are used to calculate the combined cost of that receipt. This applies to all types of stock: FIFO, Non FIFO, Batch and Serial Traceable.
The Landed Costs can be posted to the Nominal Ledger to ensure more accurate Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reporting. These costs are also included on the various stock related processes such as the Stock Valuation Report, to provide a more accurate picture of the value of your stock. Knowing both the purchase price and the Landed Costs is critical to understanding the profitability of stock. The total actual cost needs to be linked to the sales price so that you know the profit margin when you are selling to customers.
